Amazing Aotearoa Activity Book

09 February 2021

What I particularly love about this book is that it is truly Aotearoa-centric and it is bursting with great activities that children (and even adults) will want to do.This book has to be my pick of the year. Every page is an artwork in itself and would stand alone as a meaningful and fun exercise.

Gavin Bishop has created a collection of highly motivating activities that not only would provide plenty of school holiday fun, but would add value to any school programme. Included in the subject matter are: New Zealand cultural history, flags of the world, natural disasters, indigineous fish, birds and insects, tourism, Maori Gods, sport and more.

Visual and verbal language skills are encouraged. Playful activities, such as: crosswords, scrambled words, word finds and codes allow learning of new vocabulary and manipulation of known words. There are opportunities to invent things, tell stories in written and visual form, and puzzles and games to play alone and with others such as the Eels and Hooks version of Snakes and Ladders.

Every child in Aotearoa deserves a copy of this book.
