But Who’s Looking After the Animals?

05 August 2020

This story comes from the Nelson fires in the summer of 2019 where families from many rural properties were evacuated while fire-fighters fought the blaze on land and from the air. As families left their homes they had to find safe havens for their animals. What follows is a story of great kiwi spirit of people helping other people.

While the people of Nelson and those who followed the events in the news might relate to the story as they recall the events of February 2019, other Kiwis will be able to relate to what can happen, who can be affected and how we can help.

The text is simple and clear for young readers and Polly Rabbits has captured the story with large, bold, colourful illustrations.

This book will delight animal lovers everywhere.
