Daddy Monster ABC
The rhyme and rhythm of the text will appeal to a younger audience and is wonderful to read aloud. However, if you are intending to use this book to teach the alphabet, it won’t quite hit the mark but if you’re after a humourous story of a dad chasing his son to bed, with the alphabet being thrown in as a bonus, then this will definitely appeal. The letters are given in order, some are repeated. There is no mention of a word that starts with each letter, or what sound each letter is. I am recommending this book though.
The gorgeous illustrations beautifully portray warmth and cheekiness and slightly older children will enjoy looking for the building blocks on each page bearing the relevant letters.
The book is likely to be read over and over again with children joining in on the “BOO!” part especially. I can imagine that many littlies will be inspired to act out the story on their way to bed, and it may even become a ritual in some households!
