Good for you, Helen Dew!

25 July 2022

This book is an ode to a local sustainability hero, Helen Dew, who leads by example, is passionate and committed to sharing her knowledge about looking after the environment.

The illustrations by Nikki Slade Robinson are whimsical and painterly and although simple portray a lot of movement and emotion. Showing commitment to the sustainability theme, this book has been printed in New Zealand using environmentally friendly SFC paper and soy inks!

I can see this book used for inquiry topics and the flow chart at the back “What would Helen do? Some questions to ask yourself about stuff” is a fabulous tool to use to raise awareness about actions, challenging ways of thinking and consuming.

I loved how this book highlighted the work of Helen and her achievements, I think this book will inspire young readers to understand the impact their choices can make on the environment.
