Kuso’s Clean/Sala’s Surprise (2 books in 1)

This book is two in one and is part of Mila’s my Gagana series using English and Ganaga Samoan to help introduce readers to each language. The simple sentences combined with playful, expressive and colourful illustrations, full of Pasifika imagery, to help make it especially engaging to young readers.

Kuso’s Clean is helps readers to learn parts of the body: “Kuso pours water over his ulu” (head). Sala’s Surprise is about getting ready for school, putting on many items of clothing: “Sala puts on her purple sakete” (skirt).

At the end of each story is a handy vocabulary list, pronunciation list including consonants, this ensures that readers have interpreted the pictures correctly to understand the meaning of the Samoan words.

These stories are fun and engaging.
