Mr Kiwi has an important job

02 June 2020

What a treasure! Heather Hunt has captured our iconic bird in pictures and word and given us a kiwi snapshot that entertains and informs.

‘Mr Kiwi’ is carefully crafted using little text, allowing the illustrations to tell the story. A perfect book to share with junior students who will be drawn to the bold and colourful page layouts and will read and reread for the sheer pleasure.

The moral of this story? Well, men and women/ male and female both have roles to play that support one another and everyone’s job is important. It is by working together that the best results are achieved. Those two young chicks in this story would not have hatched without the hard work of their mum and their dad!

I’m not surprised that ‘Mr Kiwi’ gained a Storylines Notable Book Award this year. It’s magic and is a book to be shared and enjoyed by all.
