Ngā Manu Tukutuku e Whitu o Matariki

08 August 2019

I loved this book as it puts a new spin on how the stars appear (whakapapa) of Matariki. This could be used as a contrast pūrākau (legend) of how the stars of Matariki came to be. The sentence structures are complex therefore more suited to the senior end of school.

This would be a great resource to teach in science for “planet earth & beyond” to look at how Māori made sense of how stars were created.
