Pigs in Sheds

01 December 2020

A Kiwi twist on the classic Three Little Pigs, this retelling is a quirky tale full of Kiwi language and idioms which may require explanation to younger children. The three young pigs, two brothers and their sister leave home and build in a variety of locations which are supported by detailed illustrations. The text and pictures support each other well and offer plenty of opportunities to promote oral language and observation skills.

This book would also work well in an older class as a way to consider alternatives to the traditional tale. Subtle references and minor details in the illustrations add another level of humour to keep the adult readers smiling too.
