Takahē Trouble: inspired by true events

02 August 2021

This fun story is based on a true story about a couple of adventurous, real-life birds. It is a great way to show how real events can be rewritten in a fictional way. The use of language here will help the children relate to the two takahē. The use of rhythm and rhyme adds to the enjoyment of reading the text aloud.

At the back of the book is a page of facts about the real Walter and Manaaki and about the takahē in general.
