1879, Norway - 2019, Aotearoa. In both times and places Nora Helmer is the wife of an aspirational businessman and mother of young children. What’s different, what isn’t, and what’s standing in the way of her being the success that society expects? In this session, director Katherine McRae, writer Emily Perkins, and actors Sophie Hambleton and Simon Leary join playwright and 2019 Robert Burns Fellow, Emily Duncan, for a discussion about how women’s lives have changed since the character of Nora was first conceived. Includes a scene reading and time for questions, followed by tea and coffee.
