Finalist events for schools - Hamilton

On Wednesday 1 August, Hamilton will host a selection of the finalists of the 2018 New Zealand Awards for Children & Young Adults, ahead of the awards ceremony in Wellington on 8 August. ALL SCHOOL EVENTS ARE FREE TO ATTEND, BUT BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL.
The authors appearing at the primary school events are:
Craig Phillips - Giants, Trolls, Witches, Beasts
Heather Haylock - Granny McFlitter the Champion Knitter
And for secondary schools:
Erin Donohue - Because Everything is Right but Everything is Wrong
Eileen Merriman - Pieces of You and Catch Me When You Fall
Hayley King (with Malcolm Clarke TBC) - Tu Meke Tūī!
Gareth Ward - The Traitor and the Thief
PRIMARY SCHOOLS
Primary school sessions take place in the Hamilton Central Library, 9 Garden Place, on Wednesday 01 August.
In these sessions, Craig Phillips and Heather Haylock will talk about creating their books and will then take questions from students.

SECONDARY SCHOOLS
Secondary school sessions take place in the Waikato University Library, Te Manawa - The Student Centre, Gate 5 Hillcrest Road, on Wednesday 01 August.
We recommend bringing students for both sessions, however you do have the option of coming to only one.
Session 1
When: 10:30am
Duration: 60 minutes
Erin Donohue and Eileen Merriman will talk about their writing careers and their books, and will then take questions from students.
Session 2
When: 12:00pm
Duration: 60 minutes
Hayley King (with Malcolm Clarke TBC) and Gareth Ward will talk about their writing careers and their books, and will then take questions from students.
The 2018 Author Event Programme is being organised for the New Zealand Book Awards Trust by the expert team at Pirate & Queen.
