Talk and draw with Tara Black in discussion with Dylan Horrocks. (Waitohi Library Sat 17th of April at 1pm) Ever wondered how graphic artists create their works? Or are you a newbie graphic artist or a Zine creator and want to gain some tips and hints about the art? Or are you just a fan of comic strips and graphic novels in general and want to see two of NZ’s best in action? Then this event is a must! Tara Black is one of the most distinctive and unique graphic artists working in Aotearoa, New Zealand. She uses her personal style and quirky humour to create her own unique comic creations and also document literary events in her own inimitable style. Tara will be in conversation with the wonderful multi award-winning fellow graphic artist Dylan Horrocks. Part workshop, part overview part discussion: join us for what promises to be a fabulous, informative, and entertaining event. Tara’s work appears in Booknotes, The Sapling and Stasis Journal. Her first book of graphic works This Is Not A Pipe was recently released on VUP. Dylan Horrocks is one of the most talented and versatile cartoonists working in NZ today, his works range from the Tour De force that is Sam Zabel and the Magic Pen to Hunter: The Age of Magic to Batgirl and Supergirl as well as the acclaimed Hicksville and his illustrations have been exhibited in many galleries including City Gallery Wellington, The Dowse Gallery in Lower Hutt, Centre National de la Bande Dessinee Internationale (CNBDI) in Angoulême, France and Auckland City Art Gallery to name but a few.
