Wanaka’s Festival of Colour arts and ideas festival takes place across eight days in April. Held biennially, the Festival brings an outstanding programme of arts and talks to the Wanaka region, including world-class music, dance, theatre, comedy, visual arts and the renowned Aspiring Conversations. Highlights of the 2021 Festival of Colour include Red Leap Theatre’s ground-breaking adaptation of Janet Frame’s Owls Do Cry, two new works from the Royal New Zealand Ballet, and the live documentary theatre project Other [chinese]. Plus conversations with everyone from journalist Paddy Gower on fake news to Sir Tipene O’Regan discussing a new online atlas that maps the ancestral landscapes of Te Waipounamu.
