The Word, The Reckoning and The Rose brings together three Nelson and Golden Bay poets with diverse styles, genuine voices and a love for the written and spoken word. They are Mark Raffills, Henry Ludbrook and Rose Michel von Dreger.
A finalist in the NZ Poetry Slam 2011 and 2015, Mark Raffills has shared the stage with the likes of Hone Tuwhare, Rachel Bush and David Eggleton. He has performed at venues throughout NZ, as well as a couple in Australia, either solo or with the bluegrass/folk/blues-based Dirt Floor Alliance. He recently performed Mark Twain’s War Prayer as part of this year’s Nelson Fringe Festival.
Henry Ludbrook is a Nelson-based poet who has been published in Poetry New Zealand. His poetry blog called River Deliver Me can be found at www.hello-hcludbrook.tumblr.com. He has been writing poems since he was 16.
Rose Michel von Dreger won a Robbie Burns award in Canada for her poetry and in New Zealand was asked to open for Sam Hunt. She has since written a book about the wilderness of the heart.
Lisa Williams will open the evening with original songs from her album 'Timeless'. Lisa recently performed at this year’s Nelson Fringe Festival and has opened for Hollie Smith. Thanks to Creative Communities for their support.
