Calling all readers and writers: we need you!
Anyone can say “I loved this book”, or “I hated that book”, but it’s much harder to say why. Reviewing is important because well-argued reviews can influence what gets published and what gets read. Your voice can make a difference.
Hooked on NZ Books He Ao Ano matches young readers with NZ books and publishes their reviews. It aims to grow the next generation of critics and build an extensive online resource of writing about YA books, by young people themselves.
We are looking for students to read and write for us! At this stage, we're focusing on readers and reviewers of intermediate and secondary school age (roughly 11-19 years of age).
Interested writers can email us at email@example.com to be added to our database. Please include your name, age, and the type of books you enjoy. We'll then be in touch to offer you a selection of books to choose from.
You'll then have six weeks to read the book and submit your review. At this point, we will work with you to edit the piece of writing so it's the best it can be.
Each completed review will be published on Hooked on NZ Books He Ao Ano. The best review each month will also be published on the Read NZ Te Pou Muramura website and promoted through our social media channels.
Please do get in touch if you'd like any further information about Hooked on NZ Books He Ao Ano, and thank you, as always, for your support!
Read NZ Te Pou Muramura is excited to adopt and continue the work of the site, established by the NZ Review of Books Pukapuka Aotearoa. We look forward to helping nurture the next generation of book reviewers and send our warm thanks to the Mātātuhi Foundation for the grant to re-kindle this project here at Read NZ Te Pou Muramura.
