Anne Hunter
Hunter, Anne (1952-) was born in Christchurch, where she obtained her Graduate Certificate in Antarctic Studies. She also obtained a Diploma of the Society of Radiographers and now works a few hours per week as a radiographer, based in Christchurch.
In 2013, Anne published her first children's book, One Little Fantail, with Scholastic. One Little Fantail introduces New Zealand's birds to children, using rhymes about the friendly piwakawaka, the playful kea, the mighty kahu, the nocturnal kiwi and more, with illustrations by Dave Gunson.
In 2018, Anne published her second children's book Eekily, Sneakily with New Holland Publishers, also illustrated by Dave Gunson. Using rhymes, the book explores the small creatures and insects that children might encounter in their gardens and in nature.
Her most recent book, Twinkle, Tickle, Little Star, was published by New Holland Publishers in 2020. The book features Dave Gunson’s illustrations and introduces children to the habitats, names and colours of New Zealand’s seashore life, such as the triplefins, hermit crabs, scallops and sea anemones.
All three books feature 'fun facts' in the back. These are amusing and interesting snippets about each creature.
