OPPORTUNITIES
- Read NZ Te Pou Muramura (us!) have a job vacancy. We're looking for a social and admin assistant. The role is part time and you're working with a small but might team of bibliophiles. More details here, apply online, or contact us if you have questions.
- The Coalition for Books has brought back New Voices of Aotearoa. Selected authors will attend a curated one-day professional development program and photoshoot in Auckland, have the opportunity to showcase their work at an industry event at Auckland Writers Festival. Apply now Applications close midnight Sunday 15 March.
- Applications for the NZSA Kaituhi Maori Mentorship Programme and the NZSA Kupu Kaitiaki Programme for Kaituhi Maori opened 20 February and close 10 April. Apply through NZSA now.
- NZSA Youth Mentor Programme 2026 applications open now and close 6 April. Apply through NZSA now.
- The 2026 National Flash Fiction Day competition is now open.
- If you're a romance writer, the 2026 Romance Writers of New Zealand Koru award is now open.
ANNOUNCED
- If your finger is on the NZ Lit pulse you already know this, but nevertheless: The Ockham NZ Book Awards shortlist dropped. Books Oscars, some may say.
- The NZ Booklovers Awards 2026 shortlist has also been announced.
HAPPENING
- The Auckland Writers Festival have just dropped their programme, and it's an amazing line up.
- A Romantic Adventure, Aotearoa NZ's first ever romance-exclusive reader event is happening on 14 March in Christchurch at the Air Force Museum of New Zealand
