I am a little, little voice.
If you support children who have experienced trauma, this pukapuka will be a great addition to your kete. Part of a series to aid well-being, the book aims to help children and adults to talk about what’s happened. There is a strong Kaupapa Māori element weaved throughout which emphasises the aroha and resilience of tamariki.

The central character, a young boy named Rāwhiti, is withdrawn and scared. The events he’s experienced are cleverly unnamed and left to the reader to infer. His story is told in first person narration, allowing the reader to follow Rawhiti on his healing journey. Interactions with whānau and supportive professionals mean Rāwhiti begins to understand, grow and heal. Vivid illustrations accompany the text and will engage readers aged 5-12.

Teachers, counsellors, social workers, child psychologists and parents will find ‘I Am A Little Voice’ helpful with tamariki who’ve experienced unsettling circumstances. Included are activity notes and learning objectives that guide adults in the valuable korero to accompany the story.

There are four books in the series aimed to help tamariki come to terms with big life events.

This is abook of aroha, hope and healing that covers big themes in a child-friendly way.
