The Trynamic Trio is reunited!
Being my first ever graphic novel I was sceptical about the format, but 'Stuck' left me pleasantly surprised. The format is ideal for reluctant readers. My only issue was occasionally struggling to keep up with which characters were which.
The storyline portrays the natural ebb and flow of friendships and relationships without being over the top about it. Arguments can feel overwhelming for children especially the age this book is aimed at and I think it's nice for them to be reassured that this is a natural and normal part of having friends; that a fight doesn't mean the end of a friendship. This storyline creates a natural talking point and reflection time for group discussion, everyone has had an experience like this!
There is a hidden theme of conservation subtly woven into the main storyline, making for some good talking points. Physically, the book is stronger than your average paperback, making it ideal for school library or classroom use.
