The third installment for the popular 'The Monster' series by Mats Strandberg and Sofia Falkenhem, follows Frank (the monster) and his monstrous, but kind, friends as they work to save their small town from a group of humans who are trying to get rid of them all. Initially set in their secret headquarters - the basement of the library - the humans wreck havoc by burning all books that mention monsters, before setting fire to the building in a frenzied attack.
Filled with great opportunities for discussions on a range of topics, as well as a few illustrations to help build the story as you go, this early-chapter book would be a hit with young readers who enjoy fantasy tales. This series would work well as small-group reading as it could lend itself to some great discussions on burning books, crowd mentality, right vs wrong, and how things can change when we work together to achieve a common goal.
These books are best read in order, as the narrative is woven through each novel.
