Nick Williamson is a poet and short story writer. He has worked as a school teacher, a postman, and a probation officer. Williamson's first collection of poetry, The Whole Forest, appeared in 2001.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Williamson, Nick (1948-) is a poet and short story writer.

Williamson grew up in Takapuna and on the North Shore of Auckland. He began his career as a schoolteacher and went on to become a postman. He currently works as a Probation Officer.

Williamson poetry and stories have appeared in Landfall, Sport, Poetry NZ, Takahe, JAAM, and New Zealand Books. His poetry has been anthologised in The Oxford Anthology of New Zealand Love Poems. Williamson’s first collection of poetry The Whole Forest was published in 2001. His poem ‘Broken Light’ was selected for Best New Zealand Poems 2001.

Williamson describes his work, as 'very visual the poems attempt to create pictures of the people presented in the context of a recognisably New Zealand landscape and culture.'

Nick Williamson currently lives in Christchurch.
