Sector news, opportunities and moments of note from November
- Fleur Beale is the new NZ Society of Authors President of Honour.
- Three New Zealand writers have received the Prime Minister’s Award for Literary Achievement:
Barbara Else MNZM for fiction, Ross Calman for non-fiction, and Dinah Hawken for poetry. - Our friends at Storylines have released their Notable Books of the Year list and have a very fun Christmas raffle underway.
- The Kiwi Christmas Books campaign continues until 10 December and it's easy to donate via participating sites or through their website.
- Continuing on the Christmassy theme: if you're planning bookish presents for your loved ones, consider this cool read local, buy local campaign from our pals at Kete, and of course Booksellers NZ Summer Reading Guide is a great resource for planning gifts.

- We've announced that thanks to funding from our friends at Mātātuhi Foundation, we'll be running an Aotearoa NZ Children's Book Week in 2026. More details to come, watch this space.
- The 2025/6 Teachers Reading Challenge is open now and starts December 1st. Teachers and school staff, get your teams together and get reading!
