The Miracle

‘The Miracle,’ the second instalment of A.M. Dixon’s ‘The Edge of the Light’ trilogy, picks up right where ‘New Dawning’ left off. After losing Ren, who sacrificed himself to save her, the main character, Merel, finds herself captive on a mysterious ship. This journey takes her far beyond the confines of Littleton and into a much larger, more complex world—a society defined by surveillance, manipulation, and inequality, where technology is weaponized for control rather than used to serve humanity.

The book is truly unique, weaving together compelling themes of human survival, ecological struggles, and a chilling "big brother" dynamic. I was especially impressed by the world-building; the vivid descriptions made it easy to imagine this place as a potential version of our future Earth. It was an immersive experience that really sparked my imagination. I had not read the first book in the trilogy so am excited to read that so it can all fit in and make more sense. The series finale, ‘Fire Coming,’ is expected to release soon.
