Sue Copsey is a children’s author with a strong background in publishing. Since 1990 she has worked as an editor in the United Kingdom and New Zealand. Her first published book, Children Just Like Me (Dorling Kindersley (UK), 1995), was an international bestseller and won a number of awards. Her recent junior fiction titles The Ghosts of Young Nick’s Head and The Ghosts of Tarawera (Treehouse Books: 2012, 2015) have been converted into successful Booktrack titles.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Copsey, Sue is a children’s author with a strong publishing background. She has worked as an editor since 1990 for publishers including Dorling Kindersley in the United Kingdom, and Pearson, New Holland, and Huia Publishing in New Zealand.

Her first published book, Children Just Like Me (Dorling Kindersley (UK), 1995), was an international bestseller and won the 1995 Times Educational Supplement award for Best Children’s Non-fiction (UK), the 1995 Reader’s Digest Best Children’s Non-fiction award (UK), and the 1995 Blue Peter (BBC) Best Non-fiction Children's Book.

Bumble the Bee and Meet Bumble and Friends (1999) were published in collaboration with TVNZ. In 2011, Copsey published Our Children Aotearoa: ō tātou tamariki (Pearson, 2011), which was a Storylines Notable Book in 2012.

Sue Copsey’s novels for junior readers, The Ghosts of Young Nick’s Head and The Ghosts of Tarawera were published in 2012 and 2015. She has since created soundtracks for these books using Booktrack, which describes them as ‘spooky New Zealand adventure stories for children aged 8 and up’. This immersive reading experience has been popular with readers, and The Ghosts of Young Nick's Head was number 1 in Booktrack's Most Popular in 2015.
