ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Doyle, Judith (1933 - ) is an award-winning travel writer whose articles have appeared in numerous journals and newspapers.
In 1990 she was named as NZ Travel Writer of the Year. In 1993 she won the Pacific Asia Travel Story Gold Award.
Pay for Your Travel By Writing (1997) draws on Doyles many year's of experience in travel writing. 'Her book has just about everything an aspiring - and actual - writer could wish for,' writes Wilderness magazine. 'A host of tips and hard-nosed advice about what to do, and just as important, how not to do.'
Judith Doyle is a former editor of the then-Book Council's Booknotes magazine.
Older and Bolder (New Holland Publishers, 2004) recounts Judith Doyle's exploration of the New Zealand outdoors 'when age is no limit to outdoor adventures' as the subtitle puts it. She writes of tramping trips, kayaking in the Marlborough Sounds, cross-country skiing, canoeing the Whanganui, hot-air ballooning, blackwater rafting and horse-riding in the Ureweras.
In Tea with my Tapas (Renaissance Publishing, 2007) Doyle's travels cover a myriad of fascinating side trips and challenges. She follows in the footsteps of Don Quixote, takes time out to learn the language, drives the historic Camino del Santiago pilgrim route, walks in the mountains, revels in the fiestas and markets, takes in the cultural treasures to be found throughout Spain and generally soaks up as much of the ambience as she can in this colourful and exciting country. Valuable not only as a absorbing tale, but also as a useful resource for those jubilada considering traveling to Spain, Tea with my Tapas is a frank and often funny look at a captivating part of the world through the eyes of a well-travelled New Zealander (taken from publisher's press release).
