Mānawatia a Matariki!
He pukapuka hei whakanui i te kāhui whetū, ko Matariki. Kātahi te pukapuka pai rawa ko tēnei! Nā Rangi Matamua rāua ko Miriama Kamo i tuhi. Nā Leon Blake rāua ko Pānia Papa te whakamāoritanga. He kōrero ki roto i te pukapuka e pā ana ki te orokohanga o te ao, te maramataka Māori, ā, he whakamārama hoki e pā ana ki ngā whetū e iwa. E rongonui ana ēnei whetū huri noa i te ao; tokomaha ngā whenua ka whakanui i te kāhui nei. Kei roto hoki i te pukapuka nei ētahi whakamārama o ngā mahi whakanui i a Matariki kei whenua kē. He mīharo te pānui.

Te mutunga kore o te rerehua o ngā pikitia, nā Isobel Joy Te Aho-White i tā. Ko te peita waikano me te tā matihiko te mahi. Ina te matomato!

He rauemi pai tēnei mā ngā kāinga reo-Māori, mā ngā kura anō hoki. He ātaahua ngā pikitia, he pukapuka pai ki te pānui ā-whānau. Mānawatia a Matariki!

This book celebrated the star cluster Matariki. What a great book! Rangi Matamua and Miriama Kamo have collaborated to write it and it has been translated by Leon Blake and Pānia Papa. The book begins with the origins of the world, it explains the maramataka Māori and also explains the attributes of the nine stars. This star cluster is famous and celebrated in locations worldwide; there are many cultures which celebrate Matariki. This book also explains how Matariki is celebrated in other countries. It is really interesting to read.

The illustrations by Isobel Joy Te Aho-White are stunning. She has used a mixture of watercolour and digital art. It really is very, very beautiful.

This is a great resource for whānau reo-Māori and schools as well. The illustrations are beautiful and this would be a good book to read as a whānau. This book is good for children years 3-8, because of the length of the text. Without a doubt, because of the beauty of the pictures and the subject this book will also be enjoyed by adults. Mānawatia a Matariki!
