Opening sentence
Pipi - When she runs, she flies.
This is the seventh book in the 'Pipi and Pou' series but the first I have read.
You wouldn’t know this is a series - the story doesn’t require much set up and you are straight into a nice easy read that moves quickly through the storyline with just the right amount of detail.

Pipi and Pou along with their kuia are the heroes of this feel good story that will make you sit back and reflect on your relationship with our planet and how we treat it. The writing is well spaced and dyslexic friendly, and accompanied by simple black and white illustrations that add to the story.

I really enjoyed the way the Te Reo Māori is woven through this story. There is enough story that you can infer the meanings of the Māori words intuitively, a great way to naturally expose the reader to the language in an organic way. If there are any words you can’t work out there is also a very thorough glossary in the back of the book.
