Opening sentence
There will come a time, not too far off, when you will stand before a deep, dark forest.
Have you ever pondered how many different ways you might make your way through a wood? I admit I hadn’t—until I opened this book. Of course, the “stick to the path” route seems the obvious choice, but have you considered the option to stow away on a moss giant? A slow ride, obviously; “but you can nap.”

'Seven Ways Through the Woods' creates an immediate connection with the reader. Lines such as “But I know you, and this won’t be a problem” made me feel as though the book was speaking directly to me, as if it were written just for me. By the end it offers readers time to ponder the journeys we take, and if we are indeed missing the wonder along the way.

Words struggle to describe the magic of the illustrations, which are really the essence of this book. From the endpapers, where light beams through a forest of trees to highlight a delicate cobweb, to the rich, deep, and vibrant colours on every page, the way light is captured is simply magical. Movement and expression are rendered so convincingly that it feels entirely possible these pages are a portal, one that invites you to join a griffin or ride alongside a moss giant.

From endpapers to endpapers, each and every page is a delight, and I know I’ll be returning to this book time and time again to lose myself in its pages.
