Opening sentence
Is there more to a tree than it being 'just a tree'?
Dave Gunson has created a beautifully illustrated book which shares the vital role that trees play and the way that they sustain the life of many other creatures. It focuses on trees in Aotearoa, both native and introduced.

The book contains a fold out habitat guide which illustrates the magnitude of life supported by a tree, from its roots, to its trunk and branches. The text then delves more deeply into each of these aspects and the plants and creatures who live there, including birds like kererū and pīwakawaka, insects like giant wētā and huhu beetle, as well as fungi and flowering plants.

There is plenty to explore and discover over multiple readings.
