Opening sentence
The sheep that stole the farmer's hat lived in a paddock out the back. A naughty sheep for doing that!
Following the success of 'The Tractor has a Wobbly Wheel', (which my Year 3 students loved), Kiwi author Tim Saunders and illustrator Carla Martell have crafted another very enjoyable picture book. 'The Sheep That Stole the Farmer's Hat' has the farmyard animals getting into more mischief. The colourful illustrations practically leap off the page, and go well with the fun rhyming text that children can read along with. I really enjoyed this as a read-aloud, and my class loved hearing it and joining in for subsequent readings. As the animals cause chaos all over the farm, the wonderful illustrations and hilarious rhyme caused lots of laughter in my classroom. This will make a fantastic addition to our school library.
