Opening sentence
I have more cousins than I can count on my fingers and toes.
In a world where an increasing number of families are separated by migration, either by necessity or from choice, this book emphasises the importance of the strong bonds formed as children which will last into adulthood. Many families do not always share the same culture or language, but lasting relationships can be created and transcend these obstacles through the universal languages of play, dance and music.

The exuberant illustrations are a joyful celebration of families playing, dancing, eating and generally having fun, while the text is kept to the minimum to convey the importance of enjoying and renewing each other’s company when we can, even if we can only communicate through video chat.

Although this book has relevance to everyone, it is especially relevant to those families who feel the loneliness of being separated by large distances, and reassures the reader that even though they might not be in the same country, families do not forget each other and the bonds they share.

This would work well as a read-loud.
